I am a Senior Lecturer in Computing at the University of Gloucestershire, UK, and at the partner institution, Fachhochschule des Mittelstands, Germany. My research lies in systems security and software resilience, focusing on low-level attacks and defenses across embedded, IoT, and constrained computing platforms, often using data-driven and machine-learning techniques for attack detection and anomaly analysis. During my PhD, I focused on bio-cryptographic methods for protecting privacy and ensuring the security of electronic health records. Previously, I was an Assistant Professor in Cybersecurity at the University of Central Lancashire. From 2020 to 2022, I held a postdoctoral position in the Chair of Software Engineering I with Professor Christian Hammer, on a €1M+ BMBF-funded IoT security resilience project at the Universities of Potsdam and Passau. In 2019, I was a visiting researcher at the Hasso Plattner Institute in the Chair of Internet Technologies and Systems with Professor Christoph Meinel.
I am currently accepting Master’s and PhD students, as well as postdoctoral researchers—particularly those interested in the following areas:
Systems security and software resilience Recent work
(malware analysis, reverse engineering, code instrumentation, compiler-assisted security)
Security of embedded, IoT, and constrained systems Recent work
(firmware analysis, runtime monitoring, hardware-assisted defenses)
Applied security Recent work
(e.g., machine-learning-based detection, secure e-health and telemedicine)
